Introduction:

This week, we’ve been giving you a closer look at what it’s really like to be Donny Osmond. After decades on the stage, television, and in the hearts of fans across the world, Donny has become more than just an entertainer—here in Las Vegas, he feels like family.

But as Donny told us, it’s his real family that keeps him grounded. And yes, he even does house chores.

“You’re part of the fabric of this community,” we told him.

“Yes,” he replied, thinking back. “And this community has been through a lot, no doubt. I’ve seen this town go through ups and downs—just like my career. I’ve even seen Las Vegas when it was considered a ghost town for entertainment.”

Still, today’s Vegas is stronger than ever.

“What’s beautiful about Vegas right now,” Donny said, “is that it’s better than ever before.”

And Donny is loving it. For him, Las Vegas represents the highest level of show business.

“When you ask me about the importance of Las Vegas… it’s the crème de la crème in entertainment. My wife and I love being Nevadans.”

After more than 60 years in the spotlight, the entertainer extraordinaire is still doing it all. His solo show has been earning rave reviews and collecting accolades, but Donny insists that family remains the anchor of his life.

“When I go home, I take out the garbage, mow the lawn—stuff like that,” he said with a laugh.

Married for 44 years, Donny still remembers the moment he realized his wife Debbie was the one. At the time, he was dating a girl named Tammy, and his brother Jay was dating Debbie. The four of them went to see Elton John in concert.

“When Elton sat down and started singing Your Song, I remember looking over at my brother’s date and thinking, ‘I’m going to marry that girl someday.’”

Two weeks later, the brothers switched dates—and Donny and Debbie have been together ever since.

He says balance is everything, especially now that their family continues to grow.

“We just had our 13th grandbaby, so life is great. And I don’t want to lose that.”

With his show thriving, his family close, and a home purchased in Summerlin, it truly seems like Donny has it all. And Las Vegas is proud to call him a resident.
